So today we drove around a couple of Portland suburbs looking at houses and came to the conclusion that there are two kinds of homes on the market. They are either A: Ugly, small, and in strange neighborhoods, or B: Too expensive.
Guess which kind we liked. So I guess short of winning the lottery, we might be waiting a little while to buy a place. S’ok though, I like where we’re living now so it should do for another year.
When we finally realized the futility of looking for homes, we came back to the apt and watched Pi, which is a pretty kick ass movie. As with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, it wasn’t what I expected, but with Pi I was pleasantly suprised. It was really good. Serious, but not depressing. The acting was great and I thought the story was really thought-provoking. If I were Ebert and /or Roeper, I’d give it two thumbs up.
I was at the grocery store tonight and I found myself looking in the candy aisle, which I don’t usually do. I ended up getting Gobstoppers, which I haven’t had in like ten years, so hopefully they’ll be as good as I remember. But the main reason I mention this is that I also saw like ten kinds of Dots, which made me think of my friend Jonah, who couldn’t see a movie without a box of Dots to munch on. Jonah, do they have Dots in Japan? If not, send me your address and I’ll mail you some. Anyways, it made me think about how much I miss my friends from back home. Just so you know guys, I’m thinking about you and I wish you were here.
Ok, enough with the mushy stuff…The week ahead looks to be pretty uneventful overall, so if there isn’t another entry until Fri. or Sat., be glad that I didn’t bore you with lots of mundane stuff. Hope everyone has a good week
Unfortunately they don’t have Dots here…its tragic!! You are more than welcome to mail me some…I would gladly eat them.
I gave Jon my address before…if he doesn’t have it let me know and I’ll email it to you.
I really miss you guys and all my friends from back home as well. I wouldn’t feel so isolated from everyone back home if I was in the US, but being in Japan makes me feel really far away. I’ve enjoyed keeping up to date with everyone through these blogs, though. Its been fun so far, but I still really miss everyone. Its not the same without my friends.
I wish you were here experiencing all of the madness that is Japan with me! I had a lot of fun with you guys when you were here a few years ago and I hope you can come back sometime soon!
Ah the candy isle. God bless it.
Moving again eh? Tell jon to stop getting raises so damn fast.
I may have to attempt to contribute to this whole blogging thing. I require a digital camera. I have missed many a humorous antic, I shall attempt to capture life and post them on a server. !!
I assume everything is going good over there. Im just…. housin? is that what the kids say? I think im ‘fronting’ to, I don’t know what it is, but people seem to get angry when I do it.

“What constitutes the bulwark of our own liberty and independence? It is not… the guns of our war steamers, or the strength of our gallant Bulk Email and disciplined army… our reliance is in the love of liberty which God has planted
in our bosoms.”
–Abraham Lincoln, 1858
Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure,
when we have removed their only firm basis,
a conviction in the minds of the people that they
are a gift of God? Indeed, I tremble for my countrymen,
when I reflect that God is just, that His justice
cannot sleep forever.
