To answer your questions:

Bubble tea can be made sweet. Essentially it is a milk and/or tea base with tapioca pearls (bubbles) added. They can be made with a variety of flavors and sweetness. I’m not fond of it personally since the idea of a chewy drink doesn’t sit well with me. Heather loves it.

The ingredients aren’t terribly expensive. I don’t recall exactly what isle the tapioca pearls were down at Uwajimaya but look for them in the dry goods section. Last time we were there they had a kit that was on sale that included the tea mix, the pearls, instructions, and some oversized straws to drink with.

The price for the ingredients is pretty reasonable. I believe we got all of the stuff for less than $10 which will make several drinks.
