So I’ve recently become addicted to playing Scrabble on the computer. I’ve always liked Scrabble, and play quite a bit with Jon, so when I saw a version for the computer at Target for like 10 bucks I figured what the hell, I’ll try it. I pride myself on having a decent vocabulary, and I generally win when I play with Jon, but playing against the computer has been a whole new experience.
I started out playing on the expert level and and pretty much had my ass handed to me. It was a humbling experience. So I did the wimpy thing and moved the difficulty level down to “intermediate,” which was a vast improvement. I’m actually learning a lot, and I win more than half the time, which is good. So far my highest score is 392, which I think is pretty good. Maybe I’ll try out the advanced level again and see how I do now that I’ve had more practice.
Scrabble is great, have you read the book word freak? its a good book. I got all into it and bought a chess clock and everything. I think playing two players with a chess clock makes you score more points and you just think quicker. i also have scrabble express this little portable digital version of it called scrabble express that is fun too
Yeah, I really liked the book, although those people are a little more hardcore than I am… I haven’t tried playing with a timer, it usually takes me a little to make words, right now I’m just working on upping the # of bingoes to more than one every other game or so
