Almost Halloween

Thursday, October 30th, 2003

So tomorrow is Halloween and we have yet to carve our pumpkins…maybe we’ll do it tonight. I always take great pleasure in chasing Jon around with handfuls of pumpkin goo :) After a week of unseasonably warm weather it finally feels like fall out, gray and kinda cold (for Oregon, anyways) and all the leaves are changing. Its ok, though I know I don’t have to worry about snow at least.

My Husband the Virgin

Sunday, October 26th, 2003

So we went to the coast for the weekend, and by some happy coincidence, Rocky Horror happened to be playing in the theater in the town we stayed in. Since jon had never gone, we decided to ge and see it. I had forgotten that “virgins” (people who’ve never seen the movie in a theater) have to perform various embarrassing (and amusing) acts for the entertainment of the rest of the audience. So not only did Jon have a “V” written in lipstick on his forehead, he had to explain to the rest of the audience why he was the biggest asshole in the theater. I figure he got off light, last time I went, the virgins had to do relay races with 12 in. vibrators between their legs :) Jon didn’t seem to mind too much though, he was too busy ogling all the chubby girls in their undies. I had fun too, but not as much as he did.

We spent Sunday in Newport, wandering around in the shops, and watched some glassblowers make some gorgeous glass floats. Jon bought me a really beautiful diamond and amethyst ring as an early birthday present, which was very sweet. All in all it was a pretty good weekend.

The Verdict

Friday, October 17th, 2003

So I got a response back from the people at Fruit of the Loom and I must say that I’m impressed; they responded the next day. I am disappointed to find out however, that the fruit guys don’t have names. There are four of them though, purple grapes, green grapes, a red apple and a green apple. So now you know :)

The Great Fruit Debate

Thursday, October 16th, 2003

So at dinner tonight, Jon and Amanda and I somehow found ourselves in the middle of a conversation about the “Fruit of the Loom” mascots; those men dressed up like giant fruit in the commercials. We could not, however, remember exactly what kinds of fruit they were. We were pretty sure that there was an apple and a bunch of grapes, but we couldn’t remember what else. Eventually we decided that there were actually 2 apples, one red and one green, and a bunch of grapes. However, since we were not certain, and because silly things like that bother me, I decided to look for confirmation on the Internet. I figured that if any site would have the info I needed, it would be the company website. But alas, the fruity mascots were nowhere to be found. The site did offer me some hope, though, in the form of a contact page. So being the involved consumer I am, I sent the company an email asking them to not only identify the fruit in the commercials, but also to tell me if they had names, other than the names of the fruit they were dressed as. I wait with bated breath for a response.

All the Stuff that’s happened in the last 2 Months

Monday, October 13th, 2003

So I haven’t written in like 2 months, and since a lot has actually been going on, I thought I’d write and get everyone up to speed.

I went to San Fransisco in Aug. for a bachelorette party, which was pretty awesome. I had never been to California, but I loved SF. We went to a drag show, went wine tasting in Napa, ate at some great restaurants and drank. A lot. All in all it was a great weekend (at least what I remember of it).

Moving on to September, I went to (and participated in) my friend Katy’s wedding. It was in Bend, which is a three hour drive from Portland. I got to see some gorgeous scenery (I drove over the pass by Mt Hood) and didn’t even get lost. I did, however, see a big salmon in the middle of the road up in the mountains, which I thought was strange, since I was under the impression they lived in the water. Oh well, I guess you learn something new every day. Anyway, Bend is a beautiful city and the wedding was perfect.

We also moved into our new house in September, which was pretty cool. We don’t have anywhere near all the boxes unpacked, but we’re working on it.

Jon and I joined a gym a couple of weeks ago. It’s weird, I’m actually enjoying working out. I do, however, need to make some CD’s to listen to while I’m there. Its nice that the gym is only like 5 min from the house,we have no excuse not to go.

We’ve been seeing a lot of movies lately, as Jon mentioned. I really liked Kill Bill although I don’t really relish the idea of waiting four months for the next one. I thought it was a lot of fun, a great tribute to Hong Kong action flicks. And being the uber-geek that I am, I really liked Underworld.

I also quit my job 2 weeks ago, and I’m really enjoying having some time off, although it’s not going to last too long (I like spending money too much). I’m thinking that I’m going to work on getting my real estate license and become a realtor. Right now, though, I’m just working on getting settled in the new house and getting everything unpacked.

I got a new monitor for my computer tonight; my old one was pretty much shot. We’ve had it for a long time and when we plugged it in tonight, the screen kept flickering and turning blue. Oh well, we knew it would happen sooner or later. We went to CompUsa and I got a 17 in. Sony LCD. It takes up much less room on my desk than the old one did too. Yay technology!

So that’s more or less what’s been going on with me lately. I’m going to start writing at least 3 or 4 times a week now that I have more free time, and hopefully I’ll be able to avoid these long, catch-up entries in the future.
