Black Friday

Friday, November 28th, 2003

So we went down to Lloyd Center today to enjoy the post-Thanksgiving shopping pandemonium, and continued our tradition of only buying things for ourselves. Jon got the Series 2 Kevin Smith action figures and some CDs, and I got a couple of t-shirts, some DVDs, and some books. All in all it was a pretty good day. Jon also had his portrait drawn by a guy in the mall, and suprisingly enough it turned out ok. Tomorrow we’re going wine tasting with my friend Katy and her husband, which should be fun.

Saturday

Saturday, November 22nd, 2003

So Jon’s home again, which is nice…today we’re going to go to the Farmer’s Market in Beaverton, which should be fun. I know how much Jon enjoys meat on a stick, so I’m sure he’s looking forward to going as well.

Home Again

Wednesday, November 19th, 2003

So I’ve returned to Portland after a week in sunny Florida. It was kind of a shock to go from 85 and sunny to 35 and rainy, but I can deal with it. The trip was a lot of fun, I managed to see almost all of my aunts and uncles on both my mom and dad’s sides. I got to spend a lot of time with my dad, which was pretty cool, although it kinda sucked that my mom had to work most of the days that I was there (new job, no vacation time yet). I took a lot of pics, I hopefully will have them posted by Saturday. The flights were pretty uneventful, although we did have a lot of turbulence on the way down. I read “Timeline” by Michel Crichton on the plane, it was ok, although definately written with the intent of making a movie. I’m pretty wiped out though, and I think I’ll get to sleep early tonight.

Fun in Florida

Saturday, November 15th, 2003

So I’m in Florida visiting my parents, and it’s been a pretty relaxing trip. Last night some of my mom’s family came over for dinner, which was a lot of fun. My parent’s apt. is right on Tampa Bay, so it’s really nice to go sit out on the patio and look at the water. Tomorrow I’m going over to my uncle’s house to visit with my dad’s side of the family. I forgot to bring a camera so I’m going to buy a disposable and have it developed when I get back, so there should be some new pics up in the photo gallery by next Saturday or so.

More about Bubble Tea

Saturday, November 8th, 2003

So I found another bubble tea place, and it’s much closer to home than the other one I like. It’s called Boba Licious and it’s just off of Murray Ave on Cornell (across from Sunset HS). I’m pretty pleased with it since they have really good coconut bubble tea, in addition to banana, which I haven’t seen before in Portland (although I got it in SF). They also have cappucino and sandwiches, which is good since Jon doesn’t really like bubble tea. Also, they have a Dreamcast, which ensures that we can entertain ourselves for hours. If you’re in the Portland metro area, especially on the west side, I highly recommend it.

Happy Birthday to Me

Friday, November 7th, 2003

So I’m now officially 24. I had a pretty low-key birthday, just relaxed for the most part. We (Jon and Mandy and I) went to Benihana for dinner, which was fun. I got to wear the silly balloon hat and dance while the wait staff sang to me in Japanese. Other than that, the only thing of any interest that I did today was put the first coat of paint on the walls in the bathroom (I’m painting the little room that the toilet is in dark purple). Hopefully I’ll finish painting this weekend. I wanted to say thank you to all my friends for their “happy birthdays.” Its always nice to hear from everyone, and I wish I could see you guys more often :)
