So Jon and I went to see “Return of the King” at midnight, and all I can say is after 3 and a half hours surrounded by sweaty geeks, I feel like I trekked up Mount Doom to throw that damn ring in the fire. All in all I enjoyed the movie, but pretty much every scene could have been like 10 minutes shorter. It was more of an endurance test than a movie. Oh well, it was fun anyways. I’m really excited to see “Chronicles of Riddick” (there was a preview before the movie) and “Hidalgo.” There was also a preview for “Spiderman 2″ which looked ok. I can’t imagine sitting through all 3 Lord of the Rings movies in a row, I guess I’m not as a hardcore a geek as I thought I was

It was long but it didn’t bother me save for the end, as every scene was so immensly enjoyable.
Spiderman 2 looks very, very blah. Special effects were pretty piss poor save for Doc Oc’s, which looked pretty great. What was with the cinematagrophy for the car scene, the score matching the camera going in to Peter and Mary Jane’s face as they flinched offbeat. Everything was offbeat… they looked uncomfortable, the music was, doc oc’s trampling sounds and the camera’s pan ni and also their reactions. Quite weird.
Chronicles of Riddick, despite looking nothing like the storyline of Pitch Black, looks to maintain the atmosphere and tone. And really, Vin Deisel is due for a good movie. And in this one all we expect him to do is run around being that bad ass with a heart of gold.
