Putting the “X” Back in Xmas

Wednesday, December 8th, 2004

So Jon and I put up our Xmas tree this weekend (although Jon was kinda distracted by the porno DVD we were watching at the time) and it looks pretty nice. I also started on my Xmas cards, and it seems like I have way more people on my list this year than I did last year. I guess that’s good though, it means I’m making more friends in Portland. I haven’t done any Christmas shopping yet. I’m not really planning on buying a lot, I’m trying to not get sucked into the massive consumerism of a holiday that (in my mind anyway) should be about spending time with people you care about. I do have a couple of ideas for little gifts for people, and I’ll prolly bake some cookies to give to friends in the area. It still doesn’t seem like December, it never really feels winter-y here since we don’t get any snow. Not that I mind the lack of shoveling, but rain just doesn’t reflect the lights on the houses the way that snow does.

So since Jon’s been gone this week I’ve done most lots of reading. So here’s an update for my booklist. Most of these books are rereads; I’ve been trying really hard not to spend too much money on books, and the library didn’t have a whole lot I was interested in last time I was there.

So I played the role of the best wife EVER today and bought Jon the new Prince of Persia game. He’ll be home from Chicago tomorrow and I thought it would be a nice suprise for him. ALthough he does read this, so it prolly won’t be a suprise. But it’s the thought that counts anyways.
